Welcome to the site!

Hi there! And welcome to From Katie To Katherine. I'm Katie (maybe soon to go by Katherine), the writer of this blog. I created this as a way to remember my adventures for the next couple of years and I wanted to make it available on the internet, in case any of my loved ones, friends, or family wanted to follow along as I don't really use social media very often. This is the place where I will post photos, funny stories, daily life, and anything else my brain can think of at the time.

You might be wondering about the title of the blog and that is the perfect first story for me to write about. My full name is Katherine but I've gone by Katie for my whole life (except one year in Grade 4 when I thought it was cool to sound like a grownup so I made everyone at school call me Katherine until I got bored of that). But in my teenage years I came up with the idea that when I become an adult, with a career and a fully independent life, I'd go by Katherine. This created the perfect scapegoat for all of the boring adult things that I didn't want to do. Like learning how to do taxes, that's a "Katherine" problem, wearing uncomfortable tights under dresses and skirts, that's a "Katherine" thing to do, making my own dentist's appointments, that's definitely something a "Katherine" does, not a "Katie". So now I had an idea in my head that there's some magical moment that happens in someone's life where one minute they're a super fun, outgoing, lighthearted kid and the next they're a serious, tax-doing adult; a Katie to Katherine moment. I'm starting to figure out that this is not one moment but a journey and I'm also figuring out that it doesn't have to be all boring to be a Katherine. Maybe there's a happy balance between Katie and Katherine and this blog will serve as the empirical evidence.
