A birthday in Europe!

Hi there! It's my birthday! Crazy!

Today all my birthday wishes came true, we started classes. Well, really we started the "refresher" classes to make sure all of us are on the same page for chemistry and statistics. So not totally what I had in mind for my first day as a 22-year-old but at least I got to hang out with my friends and classmates and struggle through class together!

My birthday started in a very cute and wholesome way, my parents called me right at 12:00AM (6:00PM the day before in Ontario) and sang to me. At 2:30AM (Halifax time) James woke up to hang out with me when I woke up to make breakfast and get ready for my day. That was super cute!!

Then I headed to class where lots of new friends wished me a happy birthday and some even sang to me then we sat through 3 hours of statistics where we all felt quite unprepared. But it was over soon enough and I headed back to my apartment for lunch. We had a nice break before chemistry so I went out and bought some fruit and a baguette to have charcuterie for lunch! Right after that, it was straight back into learning but this time for chemistry. These were topics that I hadn't heard since grade 11 so it was a bit of a mental challenge but once we started doing the exercises it was all coming back to me!

The first day of learning wasn't too bad after all and we get to go back and do it all again tomorrow, and the next day, and the next day..... But this evening, some of my friends and I went out to a cool bar on a boat to celebrate!

So twenty-second birthday in a nutshell: super cool to be in Europe for the big day, not so cool to have to go to school but very cool to hang out with some new friends!

PS. Here's a picture of me walking to class. I accidentally spilled water all down my shirt as soon as I left my apartment... Maybe next year I'll get some more coordination.
